9/17-21	Begin Arabian Nights Penguin Edition, pp. 1-244. Read carefully introduction by Robert Irwin. Diagram how you think the stories are framed. Create a short story which increasingly more frames. Read up to “the story of the petrified Prince.” (pp. 1-50) Groups chosen for Little,Big.
9/24-28	Arabian Nights (cont.)   From “The Porter and the Three Ladies” (p. 50 ) to “The Story of the Barber’s sixth brother.” (p. 244). Present your frame stories to class. Discussion of John Barth’s “Frame Tale” and “”Menelaiad”
